The Old Landscape Before Urbanization

Not all of my field work is glorious view scapes. Yesterday I was in one of Washington's larger urban cities exploring the geology landscape under an old building when I came across this:

Cedar stump

I've encountered organic material under old foundations before, but an old growth stump was a first. The stump measured 6 feet across.
